IMRA interviewed Freih Abu Meddien, Minister of Justice in the
Palestinian Authority, in English, on December 23.

IMRA: Has the Palestinian Authority developed its own real estate
laws or is it still relying on Jordanian law?

Meddien: It is still Jordanian law. Right now we still have a
situation of a division between the West Bank and Gaza and they
were covered by their own laws. It is a practical consideration
that we now follow the Jordanian law.

IMRA: Are there plans to change the law?

Meddien: We will enact our own laws later. Right now we have a
set of laws in effect both de facto and de jure.

IMRA: Will it remain a capital punishment to sell land to Jews?

Meddien: We are going to control the selling and buying of land in
the West Bank as we do not want a problem of the selling of land to
Israelis and settlers through their dirty tricks. There are
certain traitors who sell land to them and we are planning to send
them to execution.
