AMSTERDAM - In the final stretch of her visit to the Palestinian area's,
Gretta Duisenberg once again caused a lot of commotion. She told this
newspaper that she was very much impressed by her visit to Jenin. In April,
the refugee camp in that city was the scene of heavy fighting and it was
partly destroyed by the Israeli army. "I have seen Ground Zero after it had
been cleaned up. But Jenin is so much worse. The heart of the city has been
wiped out."
