Saudi sermon:"O God, deal with Zionist Jews and their supporters"

Saudi sermon:"O God, deal with Zionist Jews and their supporters"

Riyadh Kingdom of Saudi Arabia TV1 in Arabic, official television
station of the Saudi Government, carries at 0928 GMT on 14 May 2004 a live
sermon from the holy mosque in Mecca. Shaykh Abd-al-Rahman al-Sudays
delivers the sermon, which he begins by saying that the nation has faced
much sedition in history, but the worst is the current one of charging
others with non-belief. "It is an unmatched wanton crime," he says, and
wonders how a Muslim can repudiate his fellow Muslim. The imam cites Koranic
verses and prophet's traditions that forbid repudiation of fellow Muslims,
and asserts that repudiation is a Shari'ah ruling that must fulfill certain
strict conditions.

The imam cites a long list of religious scholars, including the
authoritative Ibn-Taymiyah, 1263-1328 A.D., and the reformer Saudi Imam
Muhammad Bin-Abd-al-Wahhab, founder of the Wahhabi Movement, as saying that
a Muslim can only be repudiated on the basis of a unanimous opinion by the
ulema. "Thus," he says, "by underscoring the risk of charging a Muslim with
non-belief and the strict conditions that must be fulfilled, the zealous
declare to the whole world that Islam is innocent of this erroneous belief.
They also declare that spilling forbidden blood and killing innocent lives,
as well as all the bombing, destruction, sabotage, corruption, and terrorism
that take place in this and other Muslim states are forbidden crimes. Islam
and its moderate people must not be held responsible for these actions."

The imam continues with the same theme in the second sermon. He appeals
to Muslim youth to guard against deviation from centrist and moderate Islam.
He also appeals to Saudi youth to stick to the course set by their
reformers, rally around their rulers and ulema, and "watch against being
exploited, targeted, or provoked by alien ideologies, poor programs, and
those who fish in troubled waters."

The imam concludes with a prayer to God to support Islam and Muslims,
humble non-belief and unbelievers, destroy the enemies of religion, and make
this and all Muslim countries safe and secure. He also prays for the king
and all Muslim rulers in their endeavors for the well-being of their
countries and peoples. He prays: "O God, support our brother mujahidin, who
struggle for the elevation of Your religion. O God, support them everywhere.
O God, deal with Zionist Jews and their supporters."
