A TNS poll that examined how countries view the United Nations has revealed
just how much the Israeli public loathes the international organization.
According to the poll, the Israeli public had the most negative image of the
UN out of all countries, and by a wide margin too.

The survey was conducted by local branches of the TNS research group in 61
countries, ahead of the UN awareness day, which will take place on Sunday.

Over 48% of Israelis said they had a negative image of the organization,
while only 29% said they felt positively about it. 20% expressed neutrality.

Austria came in second, with 39% of its citizens feeling negatively about
the UN, followed by Egypt with 29%. Not surprisingly, the Scandinavian
countries were the biggest supporters: Norway tops the list with a 83%
approval rating and only 1% who had a negative opinion of the UN. Only 41%
of US citizens said they had a positive view of the UN, while 24% felt
negatively about it.

Israel and the UN have had a long history of disputes. Until today,
Palestinians nearly win automatic majorities in the UN General Assembly, and
often at the Security Council as well, forcing the US to exercise its veto
power time and time again in order to prevent the passing of anti-Israeli
resolutions.
