Poll: Nine of 10 topping Likud primaries oppose disengagement

Poll: Nine of 10 topping Likud primaries oppose disengagement

Aaron Lerner Date: 11 February 2005

Today's edition of Makor Rishon reports the results of a recent poll of
Likud Party Central Committee members carried out by Geocartography for the
"Radius" radio station.

Respondents were asked which ten Likud MKs or Ministers (Defense Minister
Mofaz is not an MK) they would like to see in the next Knesset

The article reported that of the top ten, only one, Hirchson, supports
disengagement,

The results:

1. Benjamin Netanyahu
2. Uzi Landau
3. Dan Naveh
4. Silvan Shalom
5. Tzachi Hanegbi
6. name not listed in article
7. Ehud Yatom
8. Gilad Erdan
9. name not listed in article
10. Abraham Hirchson

The article also reports the following standings for other disengagement
supporters:

18. Shaul Mofaz
26. Ze`ev Boim
32. Omri Sharon
34. Ronnie Bar-On
39. Majalli Whbee

The article points out that since under the Likud rules there are many
sectoral positions in the Knesset list such that Omri Sharon would not have
a "safe slot" if he came in #32 in the national list that veteran MKs must
run for.

The poll did not include Ariel Sharon in the list on the assumption that he
would remain chairman of the Likud and thus would not have to run in these
primaries.
