King Expresses Solidarity with Lebanese and Palestinian Peoples

Amman, July 17 (Petra-Jordan News Agency)-- His Majesty King Abdullah II on
Monday received a phone call from Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Sanyoura,
during which His Majesty expressed Jordan's solidarity with the Lebanese
people in the face of the Israeli aggression.

His Majesty stressed his condemnation and censure of the continuous Israeli
aggression, which has led to the loss of hundreds of dead and wounded
Lebanese people and the destruction of Lebanese infrastructure.

His Majesty affirmed Jordan's readiness to put all its potentials at the
service of Lebanon and to contribute to the rebuilding of what was destroyed
by the Israeli war machines.

King Abdullah briefed Sanyoura on efforts exerted by Jordan and the Arab and
international states to contain the situation and put an end to the Israeli
aggression on Lebanon.

His Majesty called upon the international community to shoulder its
responsibilities and put an end to the catastrophe that beset the people of
Lebanon.

For his part, the Lebanese premier briefed His Majesty the King on the
repercussions of the situation and the deteriorating conditions in the
Lebanese territories.

Sanyoura expressed appreciation for the efforts of His Majesty to save the
Lebanese people from the killing and destruction they are facing.

On the other hand, during a telephone conversation with Palestinian leader
Mahmoud Abbas, His Majesty the King expressed Jordan's fully support to the
Palestinian people in the harsh conditions as a result of the continued
Israeli military aggression.

King Abdullah said that Jordan will continue to extend all forms of support
and political and humanitarian assistance to stop the Israeli military
escalation in the Palestinian territories.

President Abbas briefed the King on the latest developments in the Gaza
Strip and expressed thanks to His Majesty the King over relieving the plight
of the Palestinian people.

Upon directives of His Majesty the King the Jordanian Hashemite Charity
Organization is sending today urgent aid convoys to Lebanon and to the West
Bank and Gaza Strip.
