Hamas-allied police stymie protest for press freedom in Gaza

Bethlehem - Ma'an - Journalists from the Al-Hayah newspaper in the Gaza
Strip say that Hamas-allied Palestinian police are preventing them from
holding a sit-in in solidarity with two reporters who were detained by the
police.

Journalists Munir Abu Rizk and writer Omar al Ghol are still in the custody
of the Hamas-run de facto government in the Gaza Strip.

The demonstration, which had been scheduled to begin at the publications
offices in Gaza City at noon on Tuesday, is postponed until further notice.
Police warned the journalists that they, too, would be arrested if they
attempted to hold the demonstration.
