IDF SPOKESPERSON'S ANNOUNCEMENT
General Closure of the West Bank during Remembrance Day for IDF Soldiers and
Independence Day

In accordance with the decision of the Minister of Defense and in light of
security assessments, a general closure of Judea and Samaria, will begin
tonight, May 5th, 2008 at 12:00am, and will be lifted on Thursday, May 8th,
2008 at 12:00am. The lifting of the closure will be carried out in
accordance with security assessments.

For the duration of the closure the passage of those in need of humanitarian
aid as well as doctors, medical personnel and additional professional groups
will be authorized by the District Coordination and Liaison offices.

The IDF regards the Remembrance Day for IDF soldiers and Independence Day as
a highly sensitive time, security wise. Accordingly, the IDF will increase
its alertness in order to ensure the safety of the citizens of Israel, while
preserving, to the best of its ability, the daily life of the Palestinian
population.
