(Communicated by Foreign Minister's Bureau)
Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni met this
morning (21 July) with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Livni briefed
the British prime minister on the background and status of the peace
process. They also discussed Iran and Britain's determined efforts to impose
sanctions on Iran.
The two ministers talked about the indictments issued in Britain against
senior members of the Israeli security forces. FM Livni stated, "IDF
commanders operate according to moral values and orders that sometimes limit
us in our counterterrorism endeavors. The situation in which these
commanders are exposed to indictments by interested parties in countries
which are under the same threats as Israel creates a lot of frustration. The
necessary amendments to the law must be introduced as soon as possible in
order to prevent submission of these indictments."
