Ahmed Qurei': Israel and US given list of Palestinian names for release

Bethlehem - Ma'an - A Palestinian negotiating team presented Israeli and
American officials with a list of names of Palestinian detainees in Israeli
prisons who they demand be released.

The Head of the Palestinian Authority (PA) negotiating team Ahmad Qurei'
announced the presentation of the list on Friday, saying that it was handed
over in Washington during a set of talks on Wednesday.

List of "wanted" Palestinians pardoned by Israel obtained

Also relating to prisoner negotiations, it appears that American journalist
Aaron Klein has obtained a confidential list of 24 Palestinian names which
Israel officially pardoned two weeks ago according to a deal between Israel
and the PA.

Sources have added, however that the list of those pardoned does not match
exactly the list of names obtained. Two of the individuals excluded from the
pardon were accused of coordinating bomb attacks; one at a restaurant in Tel
Aviv which killed 11 Israelis and the second which targeted and killed Rabbi
Kahana and his family.

Klein has indicated that he interviewed one of the pardoned men, Abu Aziz,
and will publish the interview in the American weekly magazine The Jewish
Press.

The confidential list also allegedly contains the names of Ahmad Salatta and
Rabi' Ahmad. The former is believed to have helped Abu Aziz with his attack,
and the latter was accused of involvement in the death of Rabbi Kahana's
wife seven years ago.
