Ma'an Editor: Shalit about to be sent to Egypt - Israel releasing 1,000

Nasser Lahham, chief editor of the independent Palestinian news agency -
Ma'an told Israel Radio in a live interview broadcast this evening on Israel
Radio that arrangements are underway to prepare the area around the
Gaza-Sinai border to transfer Gilad Shalit to Egypt.

Laham said that the top Egyptian reporters are already on the way from Cairo
to the border to cover the story.

Laham said that Israel was releasing 1,000 Palestinians in three stages with
the last stage as Shalit is moved from Egypt to Israel.

According to Laham, a breakthrough was reached when scores of "heavy" (e.g.
murderers) Palestinians being held by Israel agreed to be exiled to Syria
and other countries.
