5,255 Detainees Set Free Due to Amnesty Decree No. 10 for 2012

DAMASCUS, (SANA)- The number of the released prisoners who were set free due
to the Amnesty Decree issued by President Bashar al-Assad for crimes
committed in the context of the events taking place in Syria reached 5,255
prisoners till today.

The legislative Decree No. 10 for the year 2012 granted a general amnesty
for crimes committed in the context of the events taking place since March
15, 2011 till the date of issuing the decree on January 15.

The decree includes the crimes related to the laws on peaceful
demonstration, carrying or possessing unlicensed weapons and ammunition and
draft evasion.
