Egypt recently rejected a demand by the United States to stop an Iranian
arms ship en route to Syria. The Al Ahram newspaper quoted a statement made
Suez Canal Authority chairman Lieutenant General Mohab Mamish, according to
which the Egyptian navy refused to stop the ship and inspect the cargo as it
passed through the canal.

Iranian officials reported Tuesday that Tehran intends to invite Mursi and
other leaders to visit its nuclear facilities to demonstrate that they are
intended for peaceful purposes, a date for the tour has yet to be set. Our
monitor Rachel Lipkin reports that the report has not confirmation from
Egyptian sources.
