The Homa Administration at MAFAT held a series of tests in the past few
days, as part of the effort to develop and upgrade the Iron Dome interceptor
system. The series of tests was intended to expand the system’s performance
and improve its capabilities against an unprecedented variety of threats.
The administration is responsible for developing Israel’s multi-layered
defensive array, which includes the Iron Dome system for intercepting
short-range missiles, the Trophy, Arrow 3 and Arrow 3 systems. The Iron Dome
system, which was developed by Israeli defense industries (Rafael, Elta and
mPrest Systems), MAFAT and the IAF is the first and only system in the world
of its kind which is already operational.
The test carried out in the past few days was concluded successfully and
will result in the upgrade of the system's operational capabilities.
Following the successful test, the Israeli Ministry of Defense is expected
to delivery the fifth battery, which will include improved capabilities, to
the IAF, thus providing Israel with five operational Iron Dome systems.
