Hello,

Re: Discussion of the security cabinet on the rules of engagement of the
soldiers and their conduct in times of danger

Because of the many cases in which soldiers publicly encounter situations of
Palestinian masses that pose a real danger to the safety of fighting forces
and this via their rock throwing and/or their putting the soldiers under
siege to a point that it undermines their safety and endangers their lives -
and this despite that our soldiers are equipped with firearms - I would like
to hold a discussion regarding the instructions of the army in the above
cases and in future cases.

The conclusion of the recent incidents with no casualties could be termed a
miracle, but we cannot count on this happening also in the future.

I think that soldiers should use their weapons to the maximum extent if they
feel that their lives are in danger and that they should know that will
enjoy the maximum support and understanding of all elements if they are
forced to do so.

Therefore, I request a hearing on the subject, which will certainly serve to
benefit the fighting forces, their safety, and strengthen Israeli
deterrence.
