Improvement in Employment Conditions of Contract Workers in the Public
Sector

The Cabinet, at its weekly meeting tomorrow (Sunday, 23 December 2012), is
expected to approve a decision to implement – in all public sector bodies –
the directives in the collective agreement between the state and the
Histadrut on improving the conditions of contract cleaning and security
workers in state service, which has been signed recently between Finance
Minister Yuval Steinitz and Histadrut Chairman Ofer Eini.

According to the agreement, full time cleaning and security workers will
receive a monthly base salary of NIS 4,500 (a NIS 200 rise) and their
supervisors will receive NIS 4,700, and will be updated according to the
aforesaid collective agreement. (On January 1, a salary increase will be
carried out according to the Eini outline to NIS 4,600 and NIS 4,800).

In addition, the workers will receive excellence grants and improved social
conditions such as pensions from their first day, advanced training funds,
vacation pay, meal subsidies, and holiday gifts, similar to those received
by state employees.
