* Yosse Sarid (not the politician) who heads The Sarid Institute for
Research Services Ltd., told IMRA today that he was not surprised by the
result for Koach Lehashpiya of Rav Amnon Yitzchak. He has been consulting
for Koach Lehashpiya and in a series of large in depth polls he found that
around 70% of the Israeli public knows who Rav Yitzchak is. The party draws
from traditional Shas voters as well as from ultra orthodox.

The Koach Lehashpiya party has what might be termed a radical social welfare
platform, calling for the imposition of price controls, redistributing land
from the kibbutzim, requiring arbitration for all smaller monetary
disputes, and other measures. The party supports the draft deferment for
yeshiva students.
