Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, terms "bizarre and irresponsible" the
words of former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert as saying that Israel spent 11
billion NIS on “security hallucinations” that were not carried out. In an
interview with Aryeh Golan interview on Israel Radio’s “This Morning”
program Netanyahu said that Israel's investment in the security of the
residents of Israel was not wasted, and that Israel has developed offensive
and defensive capabilities against near and distant locations. He also said
that the government has invested heavily also in the security fence stopped
the infiltrators and Iron Dome system.
He added that during his tenure he coordinated international efforts to
impose an economic blockade on Iran and built an independent ability for
Israel to act.
PM Netanyahu noted that Israel’s actions to build such an independent
ability played a critical and decisive role in getting the world to act.
Benjamin Netanyahu refused to relate to the appointment of Chuck Hagel
Secretary of Defense in the United States but said that President Obama has
expressed Washington’s commitment to prevent nuclear Iran and that Israel
has a right to defend itself by itself against any threat.
