TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian army commander lauded the achievements of the
country's Armed Forces in electronic warfare, stressing that Iran's military
units can maintain communications amid a full-fledged enemy electronic
attack for jamming and disrupting their contacts.

"Communications are highly valuable in future and today's wars and our Armed
Forces have realized this completely and have prepared themselves
proportionate to today's needs and electronic warfare," Commander of the
Iranian Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan told
reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony in Tehran on Tuesday.

"In case the enemy spreads parasites everywhere, our experts can establish
communications for command and missile systems through an electronic
disruption in order that they can have workable military equipment, and that
signifies the high capability of our Armed Forces," Pourdastan said.

"We have been equipped with electronic warfare systems in order not to
remain just a defending force, and rather become able to jam enemy's
communication systems."

In similar remarks in October, a senior Iranian military commander said
Iran's defense forces have promoted their electronic and IT capabilities
because future threats and war on Iran will most likely be electronic and
cyber war.

"The future wars will not be similar to the war during the 8 years of the
Sacred Defense (i.e. Iraqi imposed war on Iran in 1980s) and we may enter
face an intense and vast atmosphere of electronic war," Commander of Khatam
ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli told FNA at the
time.

The commander said the Iranian defense forces are promoting their
capabilities to cope with the existing threat, and stated, "Therefore, we
were necessitated to have our detection and identification systems equipped
with different frequency bands and now they have this capability."
