Iran president expected to visit Russia for GECF meeting

GECF is an intergovernmental organization of the world's leading natural gas
producers comprising Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran,
Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.

Iran’s Ambassador to Russia Seyyed Reza Sajjadi says the Iranian president
is expected to visit Russia to participate in the meeting of Gas Exporting
Countries Forum (GECF).

"Russia will host a forum of gas exporting countries on July 1-2, and the
Iranian president [Mahmoud Ahmadinejad] has been invited, and so we are
expecting his visit," The Voice of Russia quoted Sajjadi as saying at a
meeting with Russian journalists on Saturday.

GECF is an intergovernmental organization of the world's leading natural gas
producers comprising Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran,
Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.

The first GECF summit meeting was held in the Qatari capital of Doha on
November 15, 2011.

Iran, which sits on the world's second largest natural gas reserves after
Russia, is making efforts to up its gas production by increasing foreign and
domestic investments, especially in South Pars gas field.
