The Ministry of the Economy launches a special emergency plan for businesses
in the south

The economic plan includes special assistance programs for small and
mid-sized enterprises in the south * Assistance in obtaining money from the
property compensation fund, business advice and advice for obtaining
financing from funds * This plan joins the special emergency program opened
as part of the government guarantees fund * Special benefits to be given to
small businesses in the 0-40 km zone for which a special situation in the
home front has been declared * The plan, initiated by the Agency for Small
and Mid-Sized Enterprises at the Ministry of the Economy, will be operated
through the Maof network * Businesses will receive fee exemption and
expedited treatment.

The Agency for Small and Mid-Sized Enterprises at the Ministry of the
Economy yesterday (Wednesday) initiated a number of assistance programs and
services for small and mid-sized enterprises, as a result of Operation
Protective Edge. This plan was drawn up by the Agency for Small and
Mid-Sized Enterprises in the past few days and anchored in a special
directive signed by Ran Kavity, the Director of the Agency for Small and
Mid-Sized Enterprises, at the instructions of Minister of the Economy
Naftali Bennett and Ministry of the Economy Director General Amit Lang.

Under the new plan, small and mid-sized businesspeople and entrepreneurs in
the Gaza periphery(0-40 kilometers) may obtain a range of services, such as:

* Assistance in obtaining compensation from property tax – a new service
to help enterprises navigate the bureaucracy at the Tax Authority, including
filling out forms.
* Expert advice and business and marketing consultancy – eligibility for
up to 20 extra hours of business consultancy.
* Special emergency guidance for businesspeople – led by experts and
fully financed by the Agency on subjects related to the emergency situation
(financing, labor law, cash flow, etc.)
* Advice for obtaining financing from funds – funds which have activated
programs for this zone. The advice will help businesspeople fill out the
necessary forms of a fund. The service is free.

In addition to the plan, which has been operating since Wednesday, the
Agency for Small and Mid-Sized Enterprises at the Ministry of the Economy,
in collaboration with the Accountant General at the Ministry of Finance,
announces a special program for residents of the south as part of the
government’s guarantees for businesses fund. This program, which has
received a special supplement of NIS 100 million for guarantees solely for
enterprises in the Gaza periphery, will allow the Agency for Small and
Mid-Sized Enterprises to provide guarantees to banks to enable them to
provide government-back loans to enterprises. Representatives of the
agencies coordinating the government-back loans will be available for
meetings with businesspeople who go to the Maof offices in Ashdod, Ashkelon,
Beersheva, and Sderot. The Agency states that businesspeople from the
confrontation zone seeking assistance will be exempt from the NIS 250
registration fee and that applications will be handled expeditiously, taking
nine days instead of the month required in normal times.

Minister of the Economy Naftali Bennett commented: “We are also supporting
the soldiers on the economic front. Economic soundness and ensuring
financial security of businesses in the south is a critical part of the
strength of residents of the south. We are taking steps to support
businesspeople and ensure their stability immediately, and we will continue
to do so after Operation Protective Edge is over.”

Agency for Small and Mid-Sized Enterprise Director Ran Kavity commented: “I
call on every small or mid-sized businessperson and owner of an factory and
company with up to 100 employees in the south to contact the Agency’s Maof
network to obtain expert advice and the range of services available to
them.”

The Ministry of the Economy calls on small or mid-sized businesspeople in
southern Israel to contact the experts of the Agency for Small and Mid-Sized
Enterprise’s Maof network to obtain information, advice, and assistance at
telephone 1-700-558-040. For further information, go to the Agency for Small
and Mid-Sized Enterprise website at www.sba.economy.gov.il
