Minister of Finance Yair Lapid will depart tomorrow, Wednesday 20th August
2014, for a two day working visit to Germany

Finance Minister Yair Lapid, will conduct a series of meetings with the
diplomatic and economic leadership of Germany including the Foreign Minister
and Finance Minister. During the meetings Minister Lapid will discuss
strengthening the strategic relations between Israel and Germany in the
context of Operation Protective Edge and present his diplomatic initiative
for resolving the current situation.

Minister Lapid, a son of Holocaust survivors, will take part in a special
memorial ceremony at Platform 17 for the victims of the Holocaust. During
the visit Minister Lapid will sign a new Double Taxation Agreement with his
German counterpart, Dr. Wolfgang Schauble, the Federal Minister of Finance.
The Minister will also tour the Axel Springer Accelerator and discuss
further investments in Israel.

The schedule for the visit is as follows:

Wednesday 20th August:

17:00-18:00 Memorial Ceremony at Platform 17 for the victims of the
Holocaust. Minister Lapid will deliver a speech at the ceremony in which he
will address the ongoing fight against anti-Semitism.

18:00-19:00 Working meeting with Ambassador Yakov Hadas-Handelsman,
Israel's Ambassador to Germany.

Thursday 21st August:

10:30-12:00 Working meeting with Federal Minister of Finance, Dr.
Wolfgang Schauble and signing of the new Double Taxation Agreement. It will
be the third meeting between the two ministers and they will discuss
strengthening the economic relations between Israel and Germany

12:15-13:15 Tour of the Axel Springer Accelerator where Minister Lapid
will meet with senior figures at the company and discuss further investment
in Israeli start-ups.

15:30-16:30 Working meeting with Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs,
Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier. During the meeting the two ministers will
discuss strengthening the strategic relations between Israel and Germany.
Minister Lapid will present his diplomatic initiative for the current
situation in Gaza.

17:30-18:15 Briefing for the embassy staff on Operation Protective Edge
during which Minister Lapid, as a member of the Security Cabinet, will brief
the staff on the security, diplomatic and economic aspects of the operation.
