Hamas Renews Self-production of Rockets (Test fired 5 rockets to sea)

[Dr. Aaron Lerner - IMRA: Please take note - under the renewed "quiet for
quiet" the Hamas production of missiles is completely acceptable. Taken to
an extreme: if Hamas were able to manufacture F-16's or for that matter
missiles with anthrax warheads - this would not be a violation of "quiet
for quiet". That's because under "quiet for quiet" the only restriction is
that they don't shoot anything.]

Hamas Renews Self-production of Rockets Filling up the stockpiles?

Hamas returns to manufacture rockets inside the Gaza Strip. It fired a
Hamas-made rocket from the ruins of the settlement of Netzarim into the sea.
This is the fifth rocket Hamas has fired into the sea since Operation
Protective Edge ended a month ago.

Hamas seek to restore the rocket lathes, of which 50 percent were destroyed
during the fighting in Gaza. In the IDF they monitor the situation and say
that this is not new rockets with new ranges.

Defense Minister Moshe (Bogie) Ya'alon also addressed the issue of Hamas'
rocket stockpiles, saying that The IDF destroyed 80% of the rockets and
mortars in Gaza during Operation Protective Edge. "In the Operation, 40
senior Hamas members were killed and an additional ten of the Islamic Jihad.
Today about 20 percent remained of the rockets and mortars stock (that
existed) at the beginning of the operation; then there were about 10
thousand rockets and mortars. There are approximately 120 thousand people
currently homeless in the Gaza Strip and 7,000 homes were destroyed there".
Ya'alon also said that out of the 7,000 terrorist targets that were hit,
5,000 of them were attacked from the air by precision fire.

Ya'alon made these comments at a conference, "Military and Political Lessons
of Operation Protective Edge," that was hosted by the Begin-Sadat Center for
Strategic Studies at Bar Ilan University.
