MOSCOW, April 30. /TASS/. A special aircraft carrying a flame of Holy Fire
has landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport. Chairman of the Board of Trustees of
the Apostle Andrew the First Called Foundation Vladimir Yakunin will bring a
capsule containing the Holy Fire to the Christ the Savior Cathedra for the
Easter service officiated by Patriarch Kirill, the head of Russia’s Orthodox
Church.
Traditionally, hundreds of believers meet the Foundation’s delegation at
Vnukovo airport for bringing the Holy Fire to parishes of Moscow, the Moscow
region and other Russian regions. In 2016 Holy Fire is expected to be
distributed among believers in thousands of the Russian Orthodox Church
parishes within the country and beyond its boundaries.
Also, the Apostle Andrew the First Called Foundation will deliver Holy Fire
to Mount Athos to mark the 1,000-year-old presence of Russians on the Holy
Mountain.
The Foundation organized a trip to Israel within the framework of the
program ‘Ask Peace for Jerusalem’ effective since 2003. In 1992 the Holy
Fire was airlifted to Moscow, first ever in the history of modern Russia.
