TEHRAN, Oct. 17 (MNA) – A Principlist Parliamentarian has said deployment of
Russian S400 missile system has improved conditions for Assad and
precipitated a US retreat.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, Head of Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy
Commission told Mehr News on Monday that recent months had seen improved
situation for Assad, with the government strengthening position in the
center as legitimate regime in Damascus; “the deployment also introduced an
imperceptible yet practical retreat by the US in general, hitting the
balance for the interests of Syria and resistance at large,” he added.

“Now, insistence by the US that a ceasefire rule in Aleppo is a clear
indication that Syrian government forces have succeeded in the city in
tightening the siege on terrorists, bringing a failure of US-led coalition
and their policies on the ground,” said the NSFPC head. “The ceasefire is
seen largely as tactics and measures to extend the deadline which is rapidly
approaching with the clock ticking for the ultimate defeat of the terrorism;
Turkish boots in Syrian soil is also a novelty and a definite error of
judgement which will precipitate another blunder and will add to their
sequence of miscalculated cases in the region.”

Broujerdi believed that Turkey had been in a dire position where she
inevitably felt pressed to change policies on Syria and Iraq, since Iraqis
had refuted Turkish forces in their northern territories, trying to bring
the case to the UN. He then sideswiped on Rouhani’s government foreign
policy; “seeking improved ties in Southeast Asia was a necessity for Rouhani’s
cabinet, and I believe the same policy is also true for Latin American and
Caribbean regions; it should be more active as well with its neighbors in
the Middle East,” he told Mehr News.

“For a while, the government found opportunities to better address the
region once it addressed nuclear issue by hammering out of a deal with world
powers. However, it faced a complex situation with Saudis seeking to
counterbalance Iran’s influence in almost all grounds in Syria, Lebanon, and
Iraq, and fierce fight by Saudi proxies against everything Iranian,”
Boroujerdi emphasized, “however, in the long run, Saudis policies will have
far-reaching consequences for itself and the world of Islam.”
