The Israeli tourism industry adopts the UNWTO Code of Ethics

For the first time - The Israeli tourism industry adopts the UNWTO Code of
Ethics

Minister of Tourism Yariv Levin: "The Ministry of Tourism recognizes the
principles of the UNWTO Code of Ethics, which is reflected in the Ministry's
practice in the various fields of operation. When allocating grants, the
ministry gives preference to tourism projects that are un accordance with
the principles of the Code. For example, the ministry promotes tourism
initiatives of the local ethnic communities such as Druze and Circassian
home hospitality, social tourism, and allocates grants for festivals and the
establishment of leisure compounds. Above all, the ministry is making
efforts to prevent the violation of rights and exploitation in the tourism
sector and participates in inter-ministerial forums with public
organizations to prevent human trafficking. I believe that the international
community is a partner in promoting these values, especially at this time,
when countries are becoming global and accessible to every tourist.”

Jerusalem, February 6, 2018 - The Global Code of Ethics is a set of ethical
principles in the field of tourism adopted by the UNWTO (World Tourism
Organization). Through the Code, the countries’ representatives seek to
reduce the adverse effects of tourism on the world, with the goal of
promoting responsible tourism.

The signing event was held in the presence of Minister of Tourism Yariv
Levin and Chairman of the World Committee on Tourism Ethics Pascal Lamy,
with the participation of leading organizations in the Israeli tourism
industry, within the framework of IMTM.
