Weekly Commentary: Regain Control - Allow All Palestinians to Work in Israel
Unless Security Risks
Dr. Aaron Lerner 1 April, 2022
Every day tens of thousands of Palestinians illegally cross through gaps in
the security barrier to work.
And its this stream of workers which makes it so difficult for security
forces to stop terrorists making their way through the same gaps.
Truth be told we don't really want to stop those tens of thousands
Palestinians from getting to work both because their employers need them and
we believe that it serves our interests for their economic situation to be
good.
There is talk again about somehow closing the gaps but that's a project
which would cost a fortune and take more time than we have. And that's
assuming we can actually permanently close the gaps.
A better approach may be to allow all Palestinian adults, with the exception
of individuals whose specific entry is barred out of security concerns, to
work in Israel.
Those tens of thousands, now providing cover for the terrorists, would
instead go through the passages with their biometric card.
Leaving those still illegally crossing sticking out like sore thumbs for the
security forces to chase down.
