Ra'am Chairman Mansour Abbas does not accept the apology of his party
member, MK Iman Khatib Yassin, who claimed that she had not heard of
evidence that "babies were slaughtered and women were raped" in the massacre
on October 7. Today (Monday) Abbas met with the Knesset's legal counsel,
attorney Sagit Afik, to examine what sanctions can be imposed against the
member of his party, who in the meantime has not responded to his request to
resign.

During the conversation, the Knesset's legal advisor, attorney Sagit Afik,
told Abbas that there is no reason to impeach the MK following what she
said. The chairman of Ra'am did demand that she resign, but she refuses for
now. Abbas consulted with Adv. Afik whether the faction could take sanctions
against her.

In the meantime, the coalition is also trying to promote the impeachment of
the MK after her unfortunate statement. In a letter sent to members of the
Knesset from all factions of the House, MK Usher Shekelim from the Likud
called on the Likud to join the collection of signatures that will enable
the activation of the "Oren Hazan" law - which requires 70 signatures, in
order to advance her expulsion.

After collecting the signatures, a vote in the Knesset committee with a
majority of 75% of the committee members will be required and finally a vote
in the Knesset plenum where also a majority of 75% of the Knesset members is
required, i.e. 90 Knesset members.
