Weekly Commentary: When Addressing Haredis Important To Understand They Are
Clueless Of Their True Contribution To Economy

The security situation and the economic situation has caused the general
Israeli society to be particularly concerned about the need to convince
Haredi society to stop choosing a life of poverty which is a burden to the
economy while they do not typically participate in the defense of the Jewish
State.

But it is important for us to understand that the Haredis, in general, are
genuinely clueless regarding this reality.

While this poll was carried out before we plunged into the October 7th
nightmare my sense is that the needle has barely budged.

The best indication of this is that Haredi politicians has reacted to calls
for Haredis to serve in the army by threatening to bring down the government
rather than plead for understanding.

Poll of Haredis: 8.3% think contribute less than others to the economy while
88.5% say get less from the State and 47.3% think contribute more to
nation's security

Telephone poll of 400 respondents from the Haredi sector carried out on 25
May through 3 June 2023 of a representative sample of the sector. Sample
error less than +/- 4.9% The poll was carried out by Askaria, a company
located in Bnei Brak which specializes in carrying out in depth studies of
the Haredi sector. Published in the Hebrew edition of Haaretz on 13 July
2023.
