Institute for Liberty and Responsibility Poll on Freedom To Protest Didn't Ask About Road Blocking

Institute for Liberty and Responsibility Poll on Freedom To Protest Didn't
Ask About Road Blocking
Dr. Aaron Lerner 19 March 2024

Background: Bar Peleg wrote an article in the Hebrew edition of the
18.3.2024 "Haaretz" reporting the results of a poll which finds that the of
the Israeli public, 60% very much disagree and 17% considerably disagree
with setting limits on protests for the release of hostages while 48% very
much disagree and 20% considerably disagree with setting limits on protests
for advancing the elections. While the hostage release protestors sometimes
block the Ayalon Highway during protests, those protesting for elections
always block the road. So when a pollster asks about setting limits on
protests it makes sense to be clear if "limits" means making people follow
the law and not block highways or actual limits to legal freedom of protest.

Subject: Freedom of Protest Survey

Greetings,

Please send the Freedom of Protest survey.

Did the survey ask whether respondents support blocking roads or oppose the
use of police to open roads?

Perhaps most interestingly, is there a crosstab analysis by political
identity and support/opposition to police action to open roads based on the
blocking party (supporters of the abductees, government opponents, Haredim,
Ethiopians, settlers)?

Best regards,
Dr. Aaron Lerner IMRA

RE: Freedom of Protest Survey
Dear,
Thank you for your interest in the survey, but we did not ask in that
direction.
All findings were presented in an article in Haaretz newspaper.
Best regards,
