Weekly Commentary: Jared Kushner – Gaza Needs Real Plan – Not BS

I hope that this message reaches Jared Kushner before he visits Israel to discuss Gaza.

The Gaza RoadMap is a farce based on the assertion that the goal of the Gazans – including Hamas – is an “end to the cycle of violence” which isn’t predicated on Israel no longer existing, while Israel’s enemies, who are senior members of the group behind the RoadMap, will take a purely neutral role in the implementation of the RoadMap.

Back to the drawing board.

With some simple principles:
1. All weapons, with the exception of a limited number of handguns for specially vetted security forces, are to be immediately removed from the Gaza Strip.
2. Gaza construction activity is to be based on metal, precast cement, and other modular approaches to keep the use of divertible cement at building sites to an absolute minimum.
3. All industrial activity which is potentially dual-use is to take place in an isolated industrial zone, with provisions for 24/7 monitoring of production and inspection of the flow of goods to ensure that weapons are not manufactured in the industrial zone.
4. A ban on civilian paramilitary training of any form.

The above limitations don’t turn Gaza into a prison.

Gaza can be rebuilt.

Gazans can be gainfully employed.

They are free to do pretty much everything except prepare to destroy Israel.

Doesn’t that make more sense than a plan doomed to failure based on wishful thinking?
