IMRA Commissioned Poll Of Palestinians: 22.6% Do Not Think Attacks In
America Jewish Plot - details

Aaron Lerner Date: 26 October 2001

A poll of Palestinians commissioned by IMRA and conducted by the Palestinian
Center for Public Opinion (PCPO) of Beit Sahour finds that 22.6% do not
believe that the recent attacks on New York and Washington that Bin Laden
has been blamed for were actually part of a Jewish plot. 51.2% responded
that they thought they were part of a Jewish plot and 26.2% expressed no
opinion.

The face-to-face poll of a representative sample of 1,117 Palestinian adults
[age 18+] from the West Bank including East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip was
prepared by PCPO President Dr. Nabil Kukali and carried out between 17
October [when Minister Ze'evi was assassinated] and 22 October.

Survey results broken down by various demographic factors follow. The survey
found the following groups in the population had a greater than average
tendency to believe that a Jewish plot was responsible for the attacks in
America: Ages 30-34 (63.5%) and 55-59 (60.0%); Craftsmen (60.7%) and farmers
(60.7%); residents of Gaza City (77.8%) and Der-Albalah (71.4%)
