Israel screens fake Palestinian funeral for reporters

Israel screens fake Palestinian funeral for reporters
Aaron Lerner Date: 2 May 2002

Col. Miri Eisin, IDF Intelligence Officer, screened a 4 minute tape
photographed by an Israeli drone over Jenin last Monday of a fake funeral.

The following is IMRA's translation of the presentation that accompanied the
film as broadcast on Israel Radio:

"In the tape you see the fake corpse being wrapped and then lying down on a
stretcher. The stretcher bearers are not particularly adept and you can see
him fall off several times.

One time he falls off the stretcher when he is already in a crowd. This is
being filmed by the Palestinians for their own purposes - to show as many
casualties as possible were buried inside Jenin.

This was filmed three days ago by the Jenin refugee camp.

When he came back to life in the middle of the crowd the crowd breaks up
because they didn't know that it wasn't really a corpse.

The film is quite clear. It constitutes only one filmed proof of what has
been happening in Jenin in the last weeks. The idea of creating false
evidence of what transpired in Jenin."

Israel Radio's correspondent reported that many reporters laughed at the
point in the tape that the "corpse" "rose from the dead" in the middle of
the crowd.
