TERROR VICTIMS TO PRESENT SOLDIERS WITH HOLIDAY BOUQUETS ON BEN YEHUDA MALL WEDNESDAY (15/May)

YOUNG TERROR ATTACK SURVIVORS WILL KICK OFF THE DISTRIBUTION OF FLOWERS TO
IDF SOLDIERS WHO ARE HEADING HOME FOR THE HOLIDAY ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 15,
11AM-12 NOON,BASED IN FRONT OF PRAHEI MARGARITA FLORISTS,
6 BEN YEHUDA STREET JERUSALEM

JERUSALEM)- An international campaign to send Israeli terror victims and IDF
soldiers holiday bouquets for Shavuot (which begins on Thursday evening) is
culminating this week with the delivery of nearly 5,000 flower arrangements.

"Seeds of Solidarity," or "S.O.S." was launched earlier this month by One
Family (www.onefamily.org.il), the organization established in 2001 to help
meet the special needs, emotional and material, of Israel's recent victims
of terror and their families.

The campaign originally hoped to take orders for 1000 bouquets, but the
emergency initiative attracted nearly 5000 orders, all of which will be
supplied by Israeli florists. $180,000 in contributions came in primarily
from well-wishers in the US, along with others in Canada, South Africa,
Australia, Germany, France and Switzerland.

"This is a wonderful expression of solidarity," says Sima Menorah, an
Israeli supporter of One Family who conceived of the idea just a few weeks
ago. "The flowers suit the meaning of Shavuot, celebrating the harvest
season. Even more importantly, the message is right, Jews sending a symbol
of comfort to the victims who have suffered horrendously this past year, and
also to the security personnel who are putting their own lives on the line
to stop future terror attacks," she added. "Finally, at a time when Israel's
economy is suffering, especially in hard hit areas such as Ben Yehuda Street
in Jerusalem, this is a significant way of giving the local florists and
messenger services a much needed shot in the arm."
