Response to the Palestinian Red Crescent's denial of involvement in weapon
smuggling in ambulances of the organization

On 3 June 2002, the Palestinian Red Crescent issued a formal statement
denying the allegations directed at it concerning its involvement in weapon
smuggling in its ambulances.

Israeli security organizations have accumulated a large amount information
concerning the exploitation of Red Crescent ambulances and personnel to
transfer and transport weapons and terrorists.

The following are examples of the mentioned above:

On 27 March 2002, during an IDF inspection of a suspicious Red Crescent
ambulance north of Jerusalem, an explosive belt was found hidden beneath a
stretcher. Lying on the stretcher was a young Palestinian boy, accompanied
by his father, feigning illness.

On 27 January 2002 Wafa Idris, a young Palestinian volunteer of the Red
Crescent, detonated in the center of Jerusalem an explosive charge she was
carrying. In this attack, the first one perpetrated by a female suicide
bomber, one Israeli was killed and some 150 were wounded.

In the photo: Wafa Idris, in the photo published in the "El Akza Morter's
Brigade" website, the military wing of the Fatah movement, which praised her
being the first female suicide bomber.
