Official Syrian Radio broadcasts sermon: "O God, annihilate the Zionists and
make them destroy themselves"

Damascus Syria Arab Republic Radio in Arabic, official station of
the
Syrian Government, on 19 July 2002 at 1005 GMT carries a live sermon from
Anas Ibn-Malik Mosque in Damascus.

Shaykh Dr. Ziyad al-Din al-Ayyubi delivers the sermon, which he devotes
to the importance of Arab and Islamic unity. He says: "unity, solidarity,
and cooperation are important bases for the success of the nation, the
preservation of its honor, and the achievement of glories and victories."
The imam notes that the Arabs today are scattered and divided because they
have given in to and believed in their enemy.

The imam devotes the second part of the sermon to a prayer for the
success of the President in his work for the wellbeing of the country. He
also prays: "O God, help our people in Palestine and the Golan. O God,
annihilate the Zionists and make them destroy themselves."
