Qaida planned to blow up bridges on Jordan to mark Millenium

Israel Television Channel Two military correspondent Ronnie Daniel reported
this evening that Israeli security has now released for publication that
Ossama Bin Laden's Qaida planned to blow up the two bridges on Jordan -
Allenby and Sheik Hussein - to mark the Millenium on December 31 1999. The
plan was foiled a month before it was carried out.

The plan, which involved Palestinians in Jordan, was to use car bombs. The
bombs were to include poison as well as explosives. The targets were chosen
both for their dramatic value to mark the opening of an age of terror but
also because of the many Christian pilgrims who would be killed by the
attack.
