Survey: Mitzna a shoo-in

Survey: Mitzna a shoo-in

By Yossi Verter, Ha'aretz Correspondent 15 Novmber 2002

An independent survey of 504 representative members of the Labor Party shows
that 74 percent will vote in Tuesday's primary elections, and that Haifa
Mayor Amram Mitzna will win by a comfortable margin.

According to the poll, Mitzna will get 43 percent of the vote, followed by
current party leader Benjamin Ben-Eliezer at 26 percent and Haim Ramon at 10
percent. Twelve percent are still undecided, but historically, they tend to
vote for the favorite.

A quarter of the party voters, however, said that if their candidate does
not win, they will vote for another party, while 22 percent of them said
they will not vote at all in January's national elections.

The survey, conducted by Dialog, supervised by Camille Fox, has a 4.4
percent margin of error.
