Saudi Foreign Minister / Press Conference: Activate Arab League Against
Israel

[IMRA: The Saudis, who earlier held a joint airforce exercise with Egypt,
now refuses to move its American made jets from Tabuk - near the Israeli
border. The jets were supplied with the understanding that they would not
be deployed near Israel.. While the Bush team has found the time to press
Israel both in public and behind the scenes regarding Arafat's fate, there
is no indication that they have done anything to address the jets
challenge.]

Saudi Foreign Minister , Prince Saud al - Faysal has stressed that peace
would not be achieved in the Middle East unless it was a just and
comprehensive one and unless it included a solution for the Syrian -
Lebanese track .

In a press conference held in Jeddah today , al - Faysal called the
international community represented by the quartet Committee and the US for
an active and immediate movement to confront the Israeli policies which aim
at violating the Palestinian territories .

In this context , al - Faysal said that during the Syrian - Egyptian and
Saudi meeting held recently, an agreement has been made on a formula to
promote the Arab League Charter and to activate the joint Arab act .

He made clear that this new formula will be submitted to the representatives
of the Arab countries in AL , thus , they will convey it to the Arab leaders
to be discussed in the preliminary meeting for the coming Arab Summit .
