PCPO Poll of Palestinians 54.9% support suicide attacks in Israel

Poll no. 114. Date: 30 September 2003

A poll carried out by the Palestinian Center for Public Opinion (PCPO) and
prepared by President Dr. Nabil Kukali.
· 70.2% Evaluate the general economical conditions in the
Palestinian territories as bad.
· 58.1% Worried to varying degrees for their means of Subsistence.
· 47.0% Pessimistic about the future.
· 73.7% Support to varying degrees the President Arafat.
· 56.3% Support the continuation of the Intifada, while 30.9% call
for a
Halt.

Majd Kokaly-Information Department:

A poll recently conducted by the PCPO and prepared by Dr. Nabil Kukali
included a random sample of adults, 18 years and older, from Gaza Strip and
West Bank including East Jerusalem.

The Poll reveals that 70.2% of Palestinians evaluate the general economical
condition in the Palestinian Territories as bad, while 19.5% evaluate it
fair, 8.1% good, and 2.2% express no opinion.

President of the PCPO, Dr. Nabil Kukali, stated that the poll took place,
25-29 September 2003 and the average age of the respondents was 32 years,
and the margin of error was 3.59± percent points.

Kukali also stated that the percentage of female respondents was 47.2%,
while that of the male ones was 52.8%. He also explained that the respondent
's location of residence was as follows: 55.3% city, 27.2% village, and
17.5% refugee camp. He pointed out to the average size of respondents'
families that was 7.21 persons, and the average number of schooling years
was 12.24 years.
