IAF Film Shows Critics of Bombing Misinformed
Aaron Lerner Date: 21 October 2003
Israel Television Channel Two military corespondent Ronnie Daniel broadcast
an IAF film of the Gaza bombing of a weapons warehouse and terrorists in a
car yesterday demonstrating that the left wing Israeli MKs and Israeli
Ministers who criticized the operations were apparently misinformed.
In the case of the bombing of the weapons warehouse, the series of flashes
after the bomb hits the target indicate the presence of considerable
quantities of flammable/explosive material present in the building.
In the case of the terrorist car that was hit twice, the film of the attack,
taken by a drone that was used to coordinate the attack, shows that the car
was first hit when no other cars or people could be seen near the target.
The car continued to move after it was hit, driving out of sight for a few
moments and then driving in reverse and then stopping. A car is seen passing
by the target and only one person is seen at a distance of 100 meters from
the target. The target was struck a second time after the other car was
beyond the area. Approximately 60 seconds elapsed between the first and the
second strike. Daniel points out that it is clear from the film that
contrary to Palestinian reports, there was not a crowd around the car at the
time of the second strike.
Ironically, the report was followed on the 8:00 PM evening news program by a
report covering criticism of the IAF operation by various left wing Israeli
MKs and Ministers (from Shinui) whose criticism was based on the Palestinian
version of events that the film exposes as false. Unfortunately, there was
no follow up with these MKs or Ministers to see if they wanted to recant or
apologize.
