PCPO Poll no. 116 Of Palestinians 66.0% Support Cease Fire

A poll carried out by the Palestinian Center for Public Opinion (PCPO) and
Prepared by President
Dr.Nabil Kukali.

- ( 66.0%) support the cease fire at present between the Palestinians and
the Israelis.
- ( 54.3%) of the Palestinians support to various degrees the mutual
contacts conducted recently between the two parties, the Palestinian and the
Israeli.
- (72.3%) Support to varying degree the President Arafat.
- (60.3%) Support to varying degree Mr. Ahmed Qre' (Abu El-A'la) as a
Palestinian Prime Minister.
- ( 53.1%) Pessimistic about the future.
- ( 42.6%) Support the continuation of Intifada, while (44.5%-/-) call for a
halt.

A poll recently conducted by the PCPO, prepared and supervised by its
president, Dr. Nabil Kukali, included a random sample of ( 669 ) Palestinian
adults from Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

The poll reveals that (66.0%) support the cease fire at present between the
Palestinians and the Israelis, while ( 29.7 %) oppose that to various
degrees.

( 54.3%) of the Palestinians support to various degrees the mutual contacts
conducted recently between the two parties, the Palestinian and the Israeli,
while ( 32.7 %) oppose that to various degrees.

President of the PCPO, Dr. Nabil Kukali, stated that the poll took place
7-11 November 2003 and the average age of the respondents was ( 33.0) years,
and the margin of error was( 3.79 +/-)percent points.

Kukali also stated that the percentage of female respondents was (47.0%)
while that of the male ones was (53.0%) He also explained that the
respondent's location of residence was as follows:( 51.4%) city,(
30.4% )village, and (18.2%) refugee camp. He pointed out to the average size
of respondents' families that was 8.13 persons.

Dr.Kukali said the results of the poll were as follows:

2. Ahmed Qre' (Abu Al-A'la), the Palestinian prime minister said at a press
Conference held on 4/11/2003 ".that the basis for the return of the
confidence between the Palestinians and the Israelis is the stoppage of
killing, assassinations, settlements, and the lifting up of the siege off
the Palestinian people and its President. This beside the implementation and
application of the withdrawals from the Palestinian towns". Do you support
these declarations or oppose to them ?
