Palestinians Testing Qassam 4 - 17 KM Range Rockets

Israel Television Channel Two Military Affairs Correspondent Ronnie Daniel
reported this evening that the Palestinians are now in the testing stages of
a new generation of Qassam rockets. The Qassam 4 is to have a range of 17
kilometers.

It should be noted that the previous generation of Qassam rockets was tested
and completed during the last cease-fire and then fired at the Ashkelom
Industrial Area after the cease-fire ended. If the Palestinians complete the
development of a 17 kilometer range rocket in another cease-fire and exploit
the cease-fire to manufacture it also in the West Bank (towards the end of
the last cease-fire there was already Qasam produciton in te West Bank) the
rocket will be able to reach a substantial proportion of Israel's urban
population.
