Is Tennebaum Linked To Ashdod Port Attack?
[Did Elhanan Tennenbaum advise Hezbollah on how to smuggle weapons into
Israel? That is one of the questions the former prisoner's interrogators are
closely looking into.
The Serious & International Crimes Unit investigators still do not believe
Tennenbaum's version - that the purpose of his fateful trip to the Gulf was
only to advise Lebanese drug lords on how to smuggle tankers full of cocaine
into Israel through the seaports. Tennenbaum was interrogated several times
on the tanker issue. Following information that was received from a
Hezbollah operative in Gaza who was sentenced to 14 years in prison,
Tennenbaum was asked whether the tankers were actually intended to carry
weapons to the Palestinian Authority....

Police are investigating whether the bombers who carried out Sunday's double
suicide attack at the Ashdod port, in which 10 people were killed, got into
the port in a container discovered to be holding weapons on Wednesday
morning.
Security forces partially closed down the Ashdod port on Wednesday morning
after five hand grenades and other weaponry were found in a bag hidden in
the false bottom of the container. Army Radio reported that food and
mattresses were also discovered in the container, and that the container
docked at the port just minutes before the bombers blew themselves up.
The container is believed to have passed through the Karni Crossing in the
Gaza Strip and contained marble and ceramics. Its final destination was
Haifa.
Security forces meticulously searched the site on Wednesday morning and
checked additional containers.
An ad hoc committee has been set up to examine security arrangements at
strategic facilities, such as ports, around the country and work to prevent
a mega-terror attack near the Knesset, Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense
Committee chair, Likud MK Yuval Steinitz, said Tuesday. The committee will
present its findings within three months time.
Haifa port workers have meanwhile set up their own civilian guard to beef up
security at the port, 24-hours a day.
