Gaza Palestine Satellite Channel Television in Arabic, official
television station of the Palestinian Authority, and Gaza Voice of Palestine
in Arabic -- Second Program -- official radio station of the Palestinian
Authority broadcasting from Gaza -- at 0950 GMT on 2 April 2004 carry a
30-minute live sermon from Shaykh Zayid mosque in Gaza.
Shaykh Ibrahim al-Mudayris delivers the sermon. After praising God and
His messenger, he condemns Jews for "killing Palestinians and destroying
their homes." The Palestinian Land Day celebrations, he says, have proved
the Palestinian people's "loyalty to this land." "Palestine," he says,
"loves those watering its soil with sweat and blood," adding that Jews "do
not love this land because they are not prepared to sacrifice their lives or
their money for its sake."
In the second sermon, the imam continues to focus on the Palestinian
Land Day, stressing that the Palestinian people "are ready to sacrifice
their lives and their property" for the sake of their land. Warning that
nobody will enjoy security unless the Palestinians' plight comes to an end,
he says: "The American people will not enjoy security and safety as long as
their government continues its bias toward the Zionist entity." He also
warns that the US Administration will cause "destruction to the American
people" as a result of its "bias toward the Zionist entity" and that "nobody
will enjoy security and safety on this land unless we enjoy the same."
Killing and displacement take place everywhere in the world as a result of
the failure "to resolve the Palestine question." The imam then calls on the
Arab countries "to extend financial aid to the Palestinian people to
continue jihad," condemning "the Zionist prime minister's threats to the
Palestinian Authority's president." He also regrets the failure of the Arab
leaders "to hold a summit meeting in Tunis."
In conclusion, the imam asks God "to protect our sanctities," to stand
by the Palestinian people, to avenge the killing of Palestinian citizens, to
punish Jews and their American supporters, and to strengthen resistance in
Palestine and Iraq.
