JORDAN DEVELOPS FIRST UAVS IN ARAB WORLD
AMMAN [MENL] -- Jordan has developed the first military unmanned air vehicle
in the Arab world.
A partnership between the military-owned King Abdullah I Design and
Development Bureau and Jordan Aerospace Industries could result in the
Hashemite kingdom becoming the UAV center for the Arab world. Industry
sources and executives said Jordan has become the first country to develop,
produce and market indigenous UAVs for the military and security market.
The UAVs were designed and developed by JAI. They include stand-alone and
integrated tactical systems that are all in the size of mini-UAVs.
"The militaries in the countries in the region are in need of UAVs," JAI
president Muayad Samaree said. "So far, we are the only ones offering
indigenous systems in the Arab world."
