IDF SPOKESPERSON UPDATE 3 June 2004

The weapon-smuggling tunnel which was uncovered yesterday during an IDF
activity in the outskirts of Rafah was detonated during the night in a
controlled manner.

Inside the 8-meter deep and 250-meter long tunnel, a bucket and food
were found.

This is the 15th weapon-smuggling tunnel uncovered since the beginning
of 2004.

Since September 2000 approximately 90 weapon-smuggling tunnels were
uncovered.

During the operation Palestinians activated two explosive devices and
opened fire on several different occasions at the forces. No injuries
were reported.

In addition, forces arrested a wanted Palestinian in a nearby structure.
The forces exited the area upon the completion of the activity.
