Several dozen protestors chanting "free pollard now" and waving placards of
the imprisoned American spy greeted the first lady as she made her way to
the Western Wall on Sunday afternoon.

Bush, wearing a black veil and accompanied by Gila Katsav (the wife of
President Moshe Katsav) was escorted by dozens of security personnel.

She said a brief prayer at the wall.

She then immediately returned to her motorcade and was taken up to the
Temple Moutn via the Lions' Gate.
Mrs. Bush is in Israel on a goodwill tour of the Middle East to promote
women's rights and education.

[Haaretz reported earliers in the day that "At her first stop, the residence
of President Moshe Katsav in Jerusalem, about two dozen demonstrators
chanted for the release of Jonathan Pollard, who is serving a life sentence
in a U.S. prison for spying for Israel."]
