IDF SPOKESPERSON ANNOUNCEMENT
A Border Policeman was lightly wounded and an IDF search dog killed in an
arrest activity in Jenin, in which Zaid Mussa, a wanted Hamas terrorist,
responsible for killing an IDF soldier, was killed.
During an arrest activity in Jenin, today, December 21st, 2005, as part of
the ongoing security forces operations against terror infrastructure in
Northern Samaria, a special Border Police force surrounded a house in which
the wanted Hamas terrorist was hiding.
The terrorist opened fire at the force, lightly wounding a Border Policeman,
and killing an IDF search dog.
The force returned fire, killing Zaid Sliman Halil Mussa, 23, a member of
the Hamas terror infrastructure in Jenin. Zaid Mussa was responsible for
killing Staff Sergeant Yonatan Evron, an IDF soldier, during an arrest
activity in the village of Marakeh, southwest of Jenin on November 2nd,
2005. Zaid had been also involved in recruiting new members to the terror
cell he belonged to, and had been in contact with senior Hamas and Islamic
Jihad terrorists in the area of Jenin.
The Border Policeman received medical treatment on location, and was taken
to a hospital for further medical treatment. A pistol and two ammunition
clips were found in his possession, in searches conducted in the house.
In addition, during the activity Palestinians opened fire at another IDF
force operating in the area. The force returned fire and identified hitting
two gunmen.
