Roads in Judea and Samaria for Palestinians Only

Roads in Judea and Samaria for Palestinians Only

Aaron Lerner Date: 13 January 2006

Makor Rishon newspaper Correspondent Chagai Segel reports today that the
Ministry of Defense is planning to close off many roads to Israeli traffic
in Judea and Samaria under a plan to separate Israeli and Palestinian road
networks called "Everything Flows".

While the plan has yet to be presented to the Council of Jewish Communities
in Judea and Samaria [YESHA Council], they have learned, for example, that
the plan includes closing sections of Route 60 to Israeli traffic so that a
Jew living in Shilo or Alon Moreh desiring to reach Jerusalem would first
have to drive to the Jordan Valley.

The YESHA Council has complained that while the Ministry of Defense has
shown the plan to America, they have yet to show the plan to the leadership
of the Israeli communities to get their feedback.

Pinchas Wallerstein, who heads the Binyamin Regional Council, complained
that the objectives of the program could be achieved with considerably less
damage to the Israeli communities but the planners refuse to even consider
changes.

Legal advisors to the settlers warn that after the implementation of the
"Everything Flows" plan it will be impossible to build additional roads to
serve Israelis since it will be argued that the roads only serve "occupiers"
and are thus illegal
